  • Ah, excellent release. I like the new installer with the checkbox for compiling in the compositor. The compositor works nicely. I set my windows to become transparent when in the background or moving. This is a nice feature since I can click on a window and see through it to check console output from other windows. I have had 2 crashes so far with the compositor on so I guess more stability work needs to be done. Very promising progress XFCE4 developers. Thanks for all your efforts.

  • I'm trying to update my xubuntu machine, but it complains about a missing glib 2.0. Could someone point me to it?

  • kj_synack .

How did you installed it n gentoo?

I tried the installer but I get errors compiling:
appending configuration tag "F77" to libtool
    checking for perl5... no
    checking for perl... perl
checking for perl module URI::Escape... no
checking for perl module URI::file... no
checking for perl module URI::URL... no
configure: error: Atleast one of the required Perl modules (URI::Escape, URI::file and URI::URL) was not found on your system
!! Failed to configure exo, see the errors above
!! for details on the problem.

    Thanks.

  • Use ebuild, either official ones or mine package...
    All needed dependencies are there

  • cpan install URI::URL

  • 1. edit make.conf & get PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage"
    2. Use ebuild from "moloh" http://dev.gentoo.org/~moloh/ebuilds/

  • I have the same problem with Xubuntu, I get this error:

appending configuration tag "F77" to libtool
    checking for perl5... no
    checking for perl... perl
checking for perl module URI::Escape... no
checking for perl module URI::file... no
checking for perl module URI::URL... no
configure: error: Atleast one of the required Perl modules (URI::Escape, URI::file and URI::URL) was not found on your system
!! Failed to configure exo, see the errors above
!! for details on the problem.

I tried installing some perl packages but it didn't help. Kinda strange cos I never got errors like this on my other computer with Ubuntu. What gives?

  • On my Arch system I had the same problem, I installed perl-uri and it compiled.

  • When there will be a release?

  • Great relese,
Only thing that is bodering me, is that i cant use right click menu without icons, like 4.2 version. Is there any hidden option or something to remove icons?
    Looking foward to final release.
